How Can I Make My Own Floor Plans?

In many cases, you will want to take advantage of our Floor Plan and Hotspot feature on a tour but may not have access to a floor plan that looks good or is clean and simple enough to use with hotspots. Let's go through a few options that help solve this problem:

Floor Planner

For a subscription, or $4.99 each, Floor Planner allows you to create 2D or 3D floor plans of homes, with rich textures and details. We recommend leaving floors plain white and not using textured layers, simply because your hotspot icons may not show up as easily on a patterned background.

SmartDraw Free

With the floor plan maker from SmartDraw, you start with the exact office or home floor plan template you need. Add walls, windows, and doors. Next, stamp furniture, appliances, and fixtures right on your diagram from a large library of floor plan symbols. Once you're finished, print your floor plan, export it to PDF, or share it online, with a single click.

Floorplanet

Floorplanet works slightly differently. With their service, you would upload an image of your floor plan, and they return a CAD file and JPG or PNG images which look really good in a virtual tour. They promise a 24-hour or less turnaround time.

Homestyler

Homestyler is an AutoDesk product (makers of AutoCAD), and they've created a tool for the web and iPad that allows very easy floor plan creation. One great feature of this tool is the ability to upload a background image, like a sketch or blueprint you may already have, so you can "trace" over it with their design tools.

Measurecomp

This company has been acquired by Home Depot but continues to offer full-service measurement and floor plan creation. They specifically cater to the real estate market and have nation-wide service. They also have a pricing calculator so you can see if it fits in your budget.

RoomScan App
